Les restes font écho à une vérité passée, à ce qui a été – choses enfouies, lieux abandonnés, paysages, corps, ruines – à travers l’opacité du temps. Ils sont la mémoire des choses et la mémoire des êtres, dans leur fragilité. Il y a dans les restes la présence d’un mystère. De quoi sont-ils les restes ? De quelle image sont-ils le signe ? Si tout ne peut être expliqué, si tout ne peut être atteint, je cherche à donner forme à une image mentale – lointaine et originelle – qui m’obsède. Je cherche à m’en approcher, à la dévoiler et la révéler dans le présent. De cette image originelle ne se livrent que les restes, incomplets, morcelés, fragmentés. Chaque nouvelle création est la quête de ce que je ne peux qu’imaginer et reconstituer en fouillant la matière – ou les matières : organiques, géologiques, généalogiques. The remains echo a past truth, of what has been – buried things, abandoned places, landscapes, bodies, and ruins – through the opacity of time. They are the memory of things and the memory of beings, in all their fragility. In the remains there is the presence of a mystery. Of what are they the remains? What image are they a sign of? If everything cannot be explained and if all cannot be achieved, I seek to give shape to a mental image – distant and original – which obsesses me. I try to approach it, to expose and reveal it in the present. The original image surrenders only the remains, incomplete, and fragmented. Each new creation is the quest for what I can only imagine and reconstruct by exploring the material – or the materials: organic, geological, and genealogical. It is a work to be unceasingly renewed.

I resti fanno eco ad una verità remota, a ciò che è stato – cose sepolte, luoghi abbandonati, paesaggi, corpi, rovine – attraverso l’opacità del tempo. Costituiscono la memoria degli oggetti e la memoria degli esseri, nella loro fragilità. Nei resti c’è la presenza di un mistero. In che cosa consistono i resti? Di cosa sono fatti? Di quale immagine sono il segno? Se non si può spiegare tutto, se non si può raggiungere tutto, cerco di dare forma ad una immagine mentale – lontana ed originaria – che mi ossessiona. Cerco di avvicinarmene, di svelarla e di rivelarla nel presente. Di questa immagine originaria, ci vengono consegnati solo resti, incompleti, frammentati, spezzettati. Ogni nuova creazione è la ricerca di ciò che posso solo immaginare e ricostituire frugando la materia – o le materie: organiche, geologiche, genealogiche. Si tratta di un lavoro da rinnovare costantemente.
